The first Ayrshire Walking Festival spanning North, South and East Ayrshire took place during the first week of September. Organised in partnership with the Active Travel Hubs in Ayr and Kilmarnock the programme offered over 40 walks led by a number of local walk hosts. From mountain to coast, river valley to country park, forest to football park, the festival explored the many splendid routes throughout the area and showcased the wonderful and varied scenery across the region.
Short walks and long walks, health walks and rugged walks, daytime and evening walks, nature walks and heritage walks were all on offer – the programme was packed with something for everyone! Typically for the western side of Scotland the weather was alternately wild, wet and chilly or sunny and mild. We, along with our friends at the Active Travel Hubs in Ayr and Kilmarnock, would like to thank all the walk hosts for taking part in the festival and everyone who attended the walks – we hope you enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you for Ayrshire Walking Festival 23!
