We are delighted to have been joined at the Trinity Active Travel Hub by Robert Ferguson who will be helping us deliver more cycling activities in the months and hopefully years to come. If you have already attended one of our bike maintenance classes, you may already have made his acquaintance.
Robert was bitten by the cycling bug as a young teenager when he discovered that following his introduction to cycling something “just clicked”. He loved the sense of freedom he got from cycling in the countryside and was soon challenging himself to go further and faster. He then joined a local club and started racing. Although those days are behind him now, he feels that within the cycling community he made lifelong friends, and he counts himself lucky to be able to help others improve their cycling ability and experience the joy that it can bring. He has already worked with the Trinity to deliver mechanical workshops helping people gain the skills they need to get their bikes ready for use and has held coaching confidence building sessions to help riders get better prepared for rides by themselves. He will be delivering activities throughout the year at locations across North Ayrshire as well as at our fabulous traffic free cycling loop at the Circuit in Irvine.
Robert is an experienced coach, qualified by British Cycling in track, road and time trials, cyclo-cross, mountain biking as well as being a level 2 cycle ride leader, a first aider, Velotech Gold certified and a Cycling Scotland ride leader and cycle trainer. So come along and try one of our cycling activities – you will be in good hands!
