May is Walking Month

May is National Walking Month – the weather is getting a little warmer, early flowers are blooming and birds are singing from every branch. All in all it’s a lovely month to get out for a walk! Here at the Trinity we offer walks on four days of the week, with at least one short health walk in every locality of North Ayrshire. Our Nordic Walking sessions are held in three locations, however we hope to add to this in the near future. We have a wonderful group of volunteers who give lots of their time and energy to lead or support the walks and we would not be able to carry out our varied programme without their help. They are very much appreciated.

Our newest Stroll With It walk takes place on the third Monday of the month, meeting at 11.30 outside the village library in Skelmorlie.

On Tuesday our walks take place on Arran, in Kilwinning and in the Three Towns. Stroll With It Arran takes place fortnightly exploring different parts of the island. The walks start at around 11.00 although there may be slight variations to the time to fit in with public transport. Two walks take place each week in the Three Towns. “Hayocks on the Move” meets at 12 noon at the Hayocks Community Centre in Stevenston, while Stroll With It Three Towns meets at 12.45 at each of the town libraries in rotation over a three week period. Stroll With It Kilwinning meets at 1pm every week at Kilwinning library.

On Wednesday it’s the turn of our Stroll With It Irvine and Garnock Valley walks. In Irvine the walk starts at 11.00 usually at the former Trinity Church in Bridgegate, although occasionally it may start from other parts of the town or nearby sites. The Garnock Valley walk meets at 12.30 in a different town each week across the locality. All the details of the meeting points for these walks can be found in the Events section or from the printed programmes available from North Ayrshire libraries.

Our Nordic Walking activities take place on Thursdays. On the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month the sessions are held in Irvine, meeting at the former Trinity Church at 12 noon. Whilst on the 2nd Thursday we meet at 11.00 at Stevenston Library and on the 4th Thursday at 11.00 at Doon the Beach cafe, Ardeer.

For all the details of our walks check out the Events programme or contact the Trinity by email at thetrinity@north-ayrshire.gov.uk.
