Workplace Engagement

North Ayrshire Councils Travel Smart programme looks at how we can reduce our carbon footprint, save money and improve health within the workplace, but also throughout everyday life. We also support and promote a number of infrastructure projects that North Ayrshire Council have with Sustrans to improve and create new walking and routes within North Ayrshire

The programme has been running for over 7 years and has successfully supported the below workplaces to achieve the Cycle Friendly Employer Award from Cycling Scotland

  • Booth Welsh
(Awarded Cycle Friendly Employer Plus, Booth Welsh are only the 2nd workplace within Scotland to have been awarded this award.)

  • KA Leisure
  • North Ayrshire Council
  • GSK Irvine
  • CCL North

The benefits of achieving the Cycle Friendly employer award are that workplaces can apply for grant funding up to £25k, this funding can be used to introduce, improve or upgrade shower facilities, bike racks or bike parking, or information to promote active and sustainable travel.

The type of FREE!! activities that we run within the workplaces are as follows:
