Summer is well underway and Milgarholm has been busy with birds bringing up youngsters and bees a buzzing. Paths may be muddy or slippery underfoot if its recently been wet.
We will be going from the town all the way to the sea and the Irvine Compass Point today. Hopefully the sun will be shining and you can bring a sun hat. On surfaced paths throughout.
Today we are going to cross two of the bridges that span east and west across the River Irvine. The walk is all on surfaced paths and pavements.
We are off to see the former racecourse today before the Marymass races take place at the weekend. the walk is entirely on surfaced paths and pavements and on one section of quiet road.
Let's Explore Irvine. Designated a New Town in 1966 it wasn't always this way. From the busiest west coast harbour guarded by a castle to brutal 1970's architecture the town has constantly re-invented itself down the ages.

We will be using part of NCN73 today to head over over to Dreghorn. This is on a surfaced cycle path. The walk is only one way so we will need to catch a bus back. remember to bring some cash or a bus pass.
