Our first Ayrshire Women’s Cycling Festival took place on 14 and 15 June with lots of activities organised over the two days.
The Trinity joined forces with the Active Travel hubs in Kilmarnock and Ayr and organised an event which saw just over 40 women on their bikes. We had:
- bike maintenance
- guided cycles
- Dr Bike
- smoothie bike
- bike marking
- puncture repair sessions
All these activities were free!
We also had a tombola where everyone who entered took away a prize. Cakes were on offer as well to fuel tired legs.
The event concluded with a brilliant inspirational speech from Emily Carr-Martin who is the Creative Director of the Hear My Music! charity.
Emily travelled round the Scottish Isles on her bike so that she could play music to different audiences. Her trusty violin went everywhere with her and was attached to the back of her bike whilst out on the road.
Emily treated us to some amazing violin pieces and they were an absolute delight to listen to. In an environment like the Trinity, with it being a converted church, the acoustics were spot on.
For its first year, the Ayrshire Women’s Cycling Festival was a great success! We, at the Trinity, certainly enjoyed ourselves and made lots of new connections.
